The shape of the Vanitas took inspiration from a Louis XV chair bought by Gianni Versace from a French antique dealer for his house in Miami. It became the first and original "Versace" furniture design for the home. The collection included the armchair, armless chair and chaise longue (also available in our 1stdibs store). The Vanitas design features an elegant, unique form with scrolled arm, intricate carvings and gilt details. The front legs are fluted, tapered columns while the the back legs splay gracefully out away from the seat. Versace has released "revised" iterations of the iconic design in limited numbers in the last few decades, namely in 2010 and 2018.
