COCOMONEY.STORE,,,,AUTHENTIC VERIFIED INSPECED GUARANTEED,,,,An unquestionable masterpiece of Venetian glass artistry, this incredible fountain is the rarest and most fascinating form of Murano glass ever created. These fountains were masterpieces requiring tremendous skill and typically only made for special commissions, with no two forms being the same. Attributed to the studio of Gino Cenedese, this unique fixture stands over five feet high and is crafted of hand-worked Murano glass. Four voluptuous glass figures representing the Four Seasons encircle the basin with bouquets of glass flowers between them. At the center of each bloom is a spout from which water, or champagne, gently cascades into the basin, creating a dazzling effect amongst the rainbow of glistening glass. The pedestal is crafted entirely of cordonato d’oro, or “creased gold” glass, which incorporates fine 24-carat gold leaf.
Venetian glass has been made for approximately the last 900 years. The art form was brought to the area by Byzantine craftsmen during the Middle Ages who had fled from Constantinople after it was overrun by crusaders. A Venetian guild was formed to establish and enforce strict regulations, including the confidentiality of trade secrets. By the end of the 13th century, Venetian glass was highly sought after throughout Europe. Fear of fires from the furnaces forced the industry out of Venice to the nearby island of Murano in 1292. By the 16th century, Venetian glass artisans had acquired tremendous control over the color and transparency of their glass and had mastered a variety of decorative techniques. They occupied an extremely high position in Venetian society and became known throughout the world for their marvelous and unparalleled creations.
